FCMF students win awards at SPE ACCE Nov 2021

Congratulations to Tyler Sundstrom &  Nicholas Martin (undergraduate students Mechanical Engineering),, Ryan Ogle and Benjamin Schwartz (MS students in Mechanical Engineering) for winning student poster awards at the Society for Plastics Engineers (SPE) Automotive Composites Conference & Exposition (ACCE). The student poster competition is held in 4 categories – PhD, MS, BS, High School. The 2021 poster competition featured 17 universities and 36 posters.

The work presented by these students is-

  • Tyler Sundstrom: Wet laid thermoplastic carbon fiber mats
  • Nicholas Martin: Development of custom filament winding for commingled fibers
  • Ryan Ogle: Product development approaches for composite bicycle parts
  • Benjamin Schwartz:; Hot melt impregnated wide carbon tow thermoplastic tapes.

SPE ACCE is North America’s largest conference in automotive composites with industry emphasis. The conference bring in 600-900 attendees annually to Novi, Michigan.
