On Friday, August 2nd, 2019, Fibers and Composites Manufacturing Facility (FCMF) will be hosting its 2nd annual Open House at 11.30 am.
This Open house will be honoring the collaborations across the TN manufacturing ecosystem (ORNL, UT, IACMI, trade associations, industry) that is growing rapidly. Notably the IACMI program is in its 4th year and the investments continue to happen. The ORNL MDF facility has grown into its third building at the Hardin Valley campus. There have several new administrative leaders, faculty, staff and personnel at UT, ORNL and the ecosystem at large. The work force development and STEM activities, industry engagement and company interactions continue to grow.
This summer, We have an excellent team of undergrad and grad student researchers, as well as year long. They are from all over the country. These students are funded through sources such as IACMI (DOE), ORISE, ORNL-UT collaborations, TN REVV, Bredesen Center, NSF, industry projects, and some through their parent institutions.
The students will be presenting posters that shows the work they have been doing in collaboration with ORNL, IACMI, UT and industry partners.
The event will include:
- 11.30 am to 1.00 pm: a casual lunch, meet and greet students, view posters and provide feedback at Mossman Building, room 202
- 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm: Everyone is invited to visit the FCMF lab for review of assets, products, processing (equipment will be running) and assess progress since your last visit.
All these activities will be student led.
