UT Engineering Lands Top 30 in Latest Graduate School Rankings

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Month Day, 2024) — The University of Tennessee’s Tickle College of Engineering has achieved its highest-ever position in the U.S. News & World Report graduate school rankings, climbing to 29th among public institutions in the latest survey.

This year’s four-spot jump continues a remarkable ascent for the college, which has risen:
• 7 positions since 2016
• 14 positions since 2011

Dean Wayne Davis attributed the consistent improvement to college-wide excellence, noting all engineering disciplines now rank in the top 50 among public universities, with all but one in the top 40. The achievement reflects the college’s growing reputation for research output, student success, and faculty accomplishments.

The rankings consider multiple quality indicators including peer assessments, research activity, student selectivity, and faculty resources. Tickle College’s rise coincides with significant investments in facilities, faculty recruitment, and interdisciplinary research initiatives.
