Staff Scientist, ORNL
MDF, Oak Ridge National Laboratory
Hassen is a Staff Scientist at the Department of Energy’s Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (MDF) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). He also serves as the Regional Director of the American Society of Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) for region 6 (Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee). His research focuses on the manufacturing, characterization, and application development of advanced polymers and composites. Hassen’s current focus is on the development of composite material for large-scale additive manufacturing (AM) extrusion deposition processes. Hassen has a wide range of experience on different composite material fabrication methods including extrusion, compression molding, injection molding, vacuum forming, and thermoplastic pultrusion, in addition to others. He also has experience in the field of advanced polymers and composites characterization using destructive and nondestructive evaluation methods such as ultrasonic testing and X-ray techniques.
