Senior Military Leaders Tour Composites Facilities

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (March 1, 2018) – Ten high-ranking military officers from the National Defense University (NDU) visited Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the University of Tennessee, and IACMI facilities as part of their industrial focus on additive manufacturing.

The delegation, consisting of Colonels and Lieutenant Colonels being groomed for Flag Officer and Senior Executive Service positions, examined how government, academic, and private sector partners collaborate to transition advanced manufacturing technologies from research to commercialization.

This annual NDU program brings hundreds of students and faculty to innovation hubs worldwide. The 2018 visit emphasized intellectual property management and commercialization pathways for additive manufacturing technologies with defense applications.
