IACMI’s InnoCrate 2025

Starting off the new year of 2025, IACMI hosted InnoCrate at the newly developed Innovation South building at the UT Research Park at Cherokee Farm. This unique event blended a “bring your kid to work” day with an interactive scientific playground, sparking curiosity and creativity in young minds.

InnoCrate featured several hands-on stations designed to encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and engineering. Each station, staffed by enthusiastic graduate students, demonstrated core scientific concepts like wind and air resistance, propulsion, mechanical engineering, and polymer elasticity. From dropping a balloon tied to a paper plate to fastening a balloon to a toy car, children explored real-world applications of physics and engineering.

These activities offered not only fun but also practical knowledge, opening gateways to the imaginative spark that inspires future STEM leaders. Parents and mentors alike were thrilled by the kids’ enthusiasm.

The event wasn’t just a playground; it was an opportunity for young scientists to get their hands dirty with experimentation and learning. One station challenged participants to design and race balloon-powered cars, sparking competition and creativity.

Another station focused on the properties of polymers, allowing kids to stretch and manipulate materials while learning about elasticity. These experiences helped children connect theoretical concepts to hands-on activities in an engaging and memorable way.

Held at the Innovation South building, the event highlighted the importance of early STEM education and its role in shaping the innovators of tomorrow.

IACMI hopes to continue fostering this excitement for STEM through future events, paving the way for a generation of creative problem-solvers ready to tackle global challenges.
