KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Summer 2019) – The University of Tennessee’s Fibers and Composites Manufacturing Facility (FCMF) has assembled a talented group of 14 summer interns from institutions across the nation, including both UT students and IACMI-sponsored researchers.

The interns are engaged in cutting-edge projects including functional composite helmet development, carbon fiber nonwovens research, natural fiber composites, and life cycle analysis of materials. Graduate students and staff provide mentorship as participants gain hands-on experience with advanced manufacturing techniques and sustainable design principles.
This year’s cohort represents one of FCMF’s most geographically diverse groups, with students hailing from eight states and bringing interdisciplinary perspectives to composites research.
